Caroline's Incident at School

When Amy picked the twins up from school last Monday, Amy found out Caroline had her first "incident" at school and Amy needed to sign an incident report. It was no big deal but Caroline got a bloody mouth and a scrape/bruise under her nose.

Basically, Caroline was running around the playground in a pack of kids when one of them shoved her from behind and she fell onto her face and got a little banged up. But within two days, there is no sign of her injury.

Here are some of the pictures Amy snapped of beat up Caroline.
As you can see, Caroline did not let this bother her.The funny thing about the event is we never knew Caroline ran around in a pack of kids at the playground. Her teacher said Caroline is one of the leaders of the pack and they run laps in the playground. Amy really wants to head up to the school and try to watch this. :)

Free Class at the Little Gym

A few weeks ago, we had a free pass to the Little Gym. The kids love when we go to the Little Gym. I spent most of the time playing so I didn't get too many pictures. Here are a few I snapped.

Caden's First Full Haircut

On Saturday, Amy and I took Caden to get a haircut at Pigtails and Crew Cuts for his first haircut at a barber. Both myself and Grandpa had given Caden trims before but this was his first full haircut.

We arrived at Pigtails on Saturday morning about ten minutes before they opened. We had stopped by the previous day and the wait was more than an hour so we wanted to get there early on Saturday. We were the first in line, but within five minutes of the place opening, there was a line of about ten kids.

As you can see by this before picture, Caden's hair has been growing.
...unlike his sister's hair. Either way, Caroline was very excited to go inside Pigtails.
When we first arrived, the kids thought it was great. Finding Nemo was playing on TVs all over the place and there was a train set to play with.Caden was thrilled when we put him in the taxi chair. I wish I had a video of him turning that wheel.
Then the poncho came on and he was not sure what to think.
And finally, Caden's hair was sprayed with some water and the haircut started. Now, Caden was no longer happy.
Check out those big tears running down his face.
I think this one looks like Caden was upset for being pulled over.
Caroline was very interested in what was going on with Caden.
After Caden's haircut was over, we let Caroline sit in the taxi for a couple minutes. She obviously does not need a haircut just yet. Maybe when she's three, she'll have enough hair for a trim.
We do not have an "after" picture of Caden just yet. He was in no mood for pictures when the haircut finished. However, we think he looks handsome.

Playing at Brushy Creek Park

Amy and I love the area we live in. We have four parks that are within easy walking distance to our house. Depending on the weather, I'll take the kids to one of those parks several times during week. The three of us go play and have fun while Amy gets a well deserved break from the twins and typically gets some stuff done around the house.

The main problem with taking the kids to a park by myself is it can be a little unnerving when the kids start climbing to the top of some playscape while I try to make sure no one gets hurt. Last week, Amy and I decided to take the kids together so we could play man on man defense.

Instead of going to one of the walking distance parks, we thought it would be fun to check out one of the many parks just off of Brushy Creek. We loaded the car and made the two minute drive to find a really nice park that the kids loved.

The first thing we did was play on the swings. Both Caden and Caroline love swinging.
After the swings, we explored the smaller of the two playscapes.
Caroline was loving our afternoon at the park.
Caden liked playing with the mulch on the ground at the park. I was just happy he didn't shovel it into his mouth.
After playing for awhile, we on a short walk to check out a small stream and a bridge. The four of us went at widely different paces. :)
The kids still had a ton of energy so we went back to the main area so we could play on the larger playscape. Caroline was the first to go up.
She shows no fear when climbing playscapes. She quickly went to the top all by herself while her mother and I guarded the exits just in case she decided to make a quick exit.
Caroline easily made it to the top of the big twirly slide, took a quick survey of the situation,
and down she went!
Here is our brave little girl!
Caroline immediately went back to do it all again. This time, Caden followed. He quickly made it to the top with Caroline and went down the large twirly slide as well.
We had a lot of fun at the park. I especially enjoyed not having to sprint from one exit to another just in case a kid fell off the playscape. I think all four of us are looking forward to another trip to a park.

Caroline Acting Like a Mommy...Again

Caroline acted like a mommy in a new way today that I thought was worth sharing.

Caden was standing on the other side of the room doing his, uh, business. Amy said, "Caden, are you going poo poo?" Well, Caroline took it upon herself to find out. She walked over to Caden, lifted his shirt, and pulled open the back of his diaper to look for poo. :)

It is amazing how much they understand already. Amy and I are already spelling things when talking when we don't want them to understand. It's crazy.

Caroline Acting Like a Mommy

As part of our bedtime routine, we lay our kids down on their boppies and offer them a bottle. They typically drink some, play, repeat until we eventually put them to bed. During this routine a few nights ago, Amy and I turned around to find Caroline doing something that we thought was funny. Caroline, who loves acting like a mommy, found her little baby, placed the baby on the boppy, and started feeding her the bottle.
It may be a little hard to see in the picture, but Caroline got quite a bit of milk out onto her babies mouth...and onto her baby's eye. :)
Caroline was checking if she was still thirsty.
By the time Caroline's baby was done drinking, her baby was very wet.

This is just one of the many things Caroline does to act like a mommy. Here are some more:
  • If Caroline wants something, she assumes Caden wants the same thing and will take him one as well whether it be a toy, blankie, or pacifier.
  • This also applies to clothes. If Caroline has a jacket on, Caden should have one as well. If Caroline thinks her jacket should come off, after taking her's off, she will maul Caden trying to get his off.
  • If Caden is upset (and Caroline was not the one to upset him), she will often try to find something to sooth Caden. Again, this is normally
  • Caroline will kiss her baby on the forehead and on the lips (just like we do with her) and she will change her babies diaper.
  • Speaking of diapers, Caroline helps out with Caden's diapers. Caroline's favorite thing to do now is put cream all over Caden's diaper covered area. She does a surprisingly good job doing so...probably better than daddy who finds it way to gross. After putting the creams on Caden, she often wants to put some on mommy, daddy, her baby, and even herself.
  • Caroline will go grab a tissue, cover her nose and mouth, and will blow from her mouth trying to make the same sound we make. She will then take the Kleenex over to Caden to try out as well.
  • If some milk is spilled (which is incredibly common at our house), Caroline likes to clean it up with a burp cloth. She knows right were we keep them.
I'm sure there are ton more things our sweet little girl does to act like a mommy that I'm just not thinking of right now.

Caroline Eating Yogurt

Recently, Caroline has been using spoons and forks (more like a spork) to feed herself. Here she is eating Yo Baby yogurt. Caroline has not quite mastered getting every bite into her mouth but she does a pretty good job and can eat an entire container of yogurt by herself without making too big of a mess.
