We recently got back from a trip to Seattle. We went to visit Amy's brother and his family. We were there for almost two weeks. This is our second trip to Seattle with the kids.
We had a nice surprise when when our plane arrived at the gate...it was a Disney plane! The kids were very excited to see it.
Another nice surprise was there were just a few empty seats on the plane and we got one of them. This allowed the four of us to sit in the same row of three. We were expecting to sit in different rows with no seats for the kids. This would be our last flight where the kids fly free and sit on our laps.
Caden enjoyed looking for "trains" at the airport carrying luggage.
Despite our extra cool plane, row to ourselves, and trains passing by outside, we were not on the plane for more than five minutes when Caden started saying, "all done." We told him, "not yet, but don't worry, we'll be at the Baker house in only six more hours."
With the help of Curious George DVDs and a couple borrowed toys the kids could draw with, we survived the flight. The flight there was by no means horrible but it was not super enjoyable either. Neither kid slept at all during the flight despite us landing around 10:00pm our time. Actually, that is not completely true. Both kids fell asleep immediately after landing but were woken up when everyone on the plane stood up. A three minute nap doesn't really cut it.
Eventually, we made it to the Baker home and got the kids to go to sleep. It was a long day but we had a ton of fun the rest of the trip.
The return flight went quite a bit better than the first flight. We left a little before lunch which was easier on the kids. Both kids slept for close to an hour right after take off. Not only did this kill time, they were in a better mood the rest of the flight.
Overall, our kids did really well on the plane. Amy and I had been dreading this part of the trip.
