Fourth Birthday Party

For Caden's fourth birthday, we decided to have a small party at our house. We'd grill hotdogs, eat cupcakes, and play outside.

Before the party, the kids opened presents from the family. Here are a few of their presents.
We are ready for a party to start.
Aunt Angela made a happy birthday sign.
The kids would eat in the kitchen and the adults would eat, well, anywhere else.
We planned to spend most of the party outside. We were a little worried about rain but it ended up being a beautiful day.
We had games setup throughout the yard.
Here is Caden playing some baseball with Grandpa. Caden hit this one really close to the camera as I was taking a picture.
And of course, we had the playscape for everyone to play on.
Baby George was excited to be in the playscape with the big kids.
Here is the food Amy planned. Uncle Michael manned the grill and cooked up some good hot dogs.

Caroline insisted on sitting close to her big cousin Ella.

It was time to sing Happy Birthday.
Amy planned for the kids to decorate their own cupcake. This was a great idea and was a huge success.
Caden was looking forward to his cupcake. It was about to be covered in sprinkles.
Caroline covered her cupcake in gummy bears.
My favorite kid decorated cupcake was this one. Do you think she got enough candy?
Here is the best cousin picture I managed to take. George wanted to go play and Will thought, "if George doesn't have to stand here, why should I?"
We opened presents on the patio. It was too nice a day to go inside for this.
The kids fourth birthday party was a ton of fun.

Fourth Birthday

Amy and I let the twins make all the decisions for their fourth birthday. I took a vacation day and we did everything Caden and Caroline wanted to do all day.
The morning started off like it did last year with the kids being greeted by streamers hanging from the hallway.
After getting dressed, the kids opened some presents from Amy and I.
It was then time for breakfast. Caden and Caroline had differing opinions on what we should do for breakfast so I said we'd do both. Our first stop was one of our favorite donut shops.
I suggested they get small donuts since we were going McDonalds afterwards. Caden disagreed. Again, his birthday, his decision. :) Here is the donut Caden picked. It was the size of his leg!
...and gone!!!
After a giant donut, Caden did not want anything at McDonalds. Caroline had pancakes and some eggs.
It was just us at our favorite McDonalds. Caden and Caroline had a ton of fun beings the only ones on the playscape
After breakfast, we went home and decorated birthday cakes. Caroline had her own red cake with red frosting while Caden had a blue cake with blue frosting.
At home, the kids got a special phone call from Mickey and Minnie Mouse telling them about the Disney Cruise our family will go on soon. (We are all looking forward to that!)
For lunch, the kids chose Chuck E Cheese.
Here was the delicious Chuck E Cheese pizza our family shared. It was almost as good as it looks. :)
We had fun playing tons of games and winning tons of tickets. Here I am helping the kids play a few games of Mario Kart.
Caden and Caroline were worn out after Chuck E Cheese and needed a quick power nap.
For dinner, Caden wanted Chick Fil A and Caroline wanted Panda Express. We picked up both and met Amy parents at Verts (one of our favorite places) for dinner. After dinner, we headed over to Grammie and Poppa's for presents and dessert.

Caden really wanted a "real tuba" for his birthday. (Caden considers any wind powered instrument to be a tuba.) Grammie found these really cool instruments for the kids. They got a trumpet-tuba and a clarinet-tuba.
While the instruments might be a little loud, the kids love them. And at least Grammie and Poppa didn't give Caroline what she asked for. Caroline wanted a real puppy! :)

After presents, it was time for birthday cake.
The entire family had fun on Caden and Caroline's fourth birthday. We cannot believe the kids are already four. The time is just flying by.
