Several Easter Egg Hunts

This year, the kids went on several Easter egg hunts.

The first was with Grammie and Poppa. Their neighborhood hosted a hunt. Here is Poppa entertaining Caden before the hunt began.
Grammie had a calmer approach for entertaining Caroline.
Caden was anxious to get started and collected several eggs before the hunt began. He didn't understand why he needed to wait and was a little frustrated. By the time the hunt began, Caden had lost interest and went to play elsewhere.
Caroline did a nice job collecting eggs. But she did an even better job collecting rocks! For some reason, Caroline loves rocks. Any time we are outside, she looks for the biggest rock she can find. It's a bird! It's a plane! It's...one of those two! Caden loves seeing both flying through the air.
The best part of this hunt was I got a small bag of chocolate to take home (after Poppa ate all the Snickers). The kids did not realize there was anything in the eggs.

The day after the Easter egg hunt with Grammie and Poppa, we hosted a hunt in our backyard for our small group. Everyone brought some unfilled eggs and we "hid" them in the grass.
Caroline knew what to do...mostly. She quickly filled her bucket with eggs. After the bucket was full, she dumped them eggs on to the ground. She repeated this multiple times.
Caden grabbed a couple eggs but then decided he wanted to go swing. Caden enjoyed hunting eggs more when our family just hid them inside. He actually showed Caroline how to carry a bucket and collect eggs. Caden also liked hiding the eggs for he and Caroline to find. But when outside, Caden had better things to do.
Caden enjoyed exploring our water fall. This is the first time he had seen it running while being free to go wherever he wanted.
If Caden is doing something, Caroline is soon to follow.
Both of them liked touching the water.
Like I said before, Caroline prefers hunting rocks instead of eggs. She found this nice specimen in our water feature.
Amy and the twins.
We went to Dallas for Easter. While in Dallas, we had an Easter egg hunt with the family we often celebrate Thanksgiving and Easter with. This is my favorite picture from the day since it actually has both kids in it.
Caden enjoyed hunting the eggs. He even found a few that Stephanie thought would be too tough to find. For example, one egg was hidden on top of the grill handle.
Caden enjoys hiding eggs even more than he enjoys finding them. This picture may look like he just found an egg, but in reality, he was re-hiding the dozen or so eggs he had previously found.
Caroline seemed to really get it at this hunt. It did not take her long to fill her basket.
She found all the eggs you see here and put them in her basket without any help! Her basket was so full, eggs started spilling out. Caroline grabbed a second basket so she could try to fill it up as well.
After the hunt, Mary pulled Sammy (Mary's grandson) and the twins around in a wagon. I think Sammy go the best seat for this wagon ride. He sure looks comfortable!
Here is a picture of Grandma saying bye to Caden and Caroline.
We had a lot of fun hunting Easter eggs! I was surprised at just how good the twins were at doing so. I'm looking forward to hunting eggs next year. I'm sure by then, the twins will know that eggs contain goodies which will motivate their search.

Way Back When-sday

In an effort to catch up on some blogging, and share a few stories we missed over the last year or so, I am going to TRY to post a blog each Wednesday to share some of our older adventures with you. Note the word TRY.....Jason is the disciplined blogger, I am not, so, we'll see how this goes.

A few months ago, the Milk Bank invited all donor moms and their families to an evening at the Austin Childrens Museum. Jason and I decided to make an evening of it, so, we loaded the kids in the car and went downtown to eat at a crepe restaurant and then walk to the Museum. We're so urban, aren't we?
The crepe restuarant was great! Jason and I had both been craving crepes since we visited Flip Happy Crepes a few years ago. Since this pic was taken, Jason has actually become a pretty good crepe chef!
Our little man enjoying a crepe...err...a lid. He consumed mostly cheerios and yogurt melts for dinner that night. Caden is still not an adventurous eater.
Sweet Caroline eating her strawberries and cheese before the crepes arrived. Caroline actually tried some crepe and liked it. She now loves it when Jason makes crepes at home!
Austin Children's Museum....fun! We weren't sure if the kids would like the museum or not since they weren't yet able to walk at the time. Turns out, they loved it! The museum was great for all ages and I am looking forward to taking them back again now that they can run around more.
Our little man with a fun smile on his face. This was him going down a mini slide at the museum. Apparently he was moving so fast, I only caught the action on part of the camera screen.
Caroline peering through one of the fish tanks. Love that smile!
Daddy showing Caroline a rope display. As you can see by the smile on her face, she was fascinated by it!
Daddy, Caden and Caroline posing in front of one of Austin's guitar statues. What a fun night!

Caroline Came to Work With Me

A little more than a week ago, Caden wasn't feeling well and Amy wanted to take him to the doctor. It is much easier to go to the doctor with one kid (or two adults) so Amy made Caden an appointment at the office close to my work. Amy then dropped Caroline off so I could watch her for a little while. This was Caroline's first time to see where I work.

I took Caroline up to my desk and told her I worked there all day when I was away from her. Caroline was very happy to bang on my keyboard and play with a few toys I have at my desk. Caroline also enjoyed walking around the cubes and looking out the windows. She also liked telling everyone "bye."

When more people started showing up, I decided to take my little distraction outside to walk around on the deck. We played with rocks and raced all over the place. Eventually, I asked Caroline if she wanted a snack and she said yes. Soon after Caroline finished her snack, Amy called and said she was ready to pick up Caroline.

I enjoyed my visit from Caroline. Caroline coming to work was some of the most fun I've ever had at work! :)

Caroline and Daddy

I love this picture Amy snapped of Caroline and I walking around.
Caroline is really good at holding your hand when you tell her to. This is especially handy when crossing a street or walking in a parking lot.
