Shock and Awe

Amy and I are telling to tell more and more people about the news. This last weekend, we told everyone we spend Easter with. Throughout this week, we are planning to tell someone almost every day. Our ABC dinner group, our Bible study, friends from church, etc.

I have noticed that when we tell people our news, most people have pretty much the same reaction. I think it is like “shock and awe” in reverse. When we give the news that Amy is pregnant (where we start by leaving out the twins part), we typically get some sort of “awe” reaction. People are happy, they smile, say congratulations. Stuff like that.

Then, we break the news that we are having twins. That’s where the “shock” part of the equation comes in. The “awe” reaction quickly changes to an “OH, MY GOSH” look. This is typically followed by some sort of “you guys are in for a lot of work” comment.

And that is the “awe and shock” reaction combo our news generates.
