Playing at Brushy Creek Park

Amy and I love the area we live in. We have four parks that are within easy walking distance to our house. Depending on the weather, I'll take the kids to one of those parks several times during week. The three of us go play and have fun while Amy gets a well deserved break from the twins and typically gets some stuff done around the house.

The main problem with taking the kids to a park by myself is it can be a little unnerving when the kids start climbing to the top of some playscape while I try to make sure no one gets hurt. Last week, Amy and I decided to take the kids together so we could play man on man defense.

Instead of going to one of the walking distance parks, we thought it would be fun to check out one of the many parks just off of Brushy Creek. We loaded the car and made the two minute drive to find a really nice park that the kids loved.

The first thing we did was play on the swings. Both Caden and Caroline love swinging.
After the swings, we explored the smaller of the two playscapes.
Caroline was loving our afternoon at the park.
Caden liked playing with the mulch on the ground at the park. I was just happy he didn't shovel it into his mouth.
After playing for awhile, we on a short walk to check out a small stream and a bridge. The four of us went at widely different paces. :)
The kids still had a ton of energy so we went back to the main area so we could play on the larger playscape. Caroline was the first to go up.
She shows no fear when climbing playscapes. She quickly went to the top all by herself while her mother and I guarded the exits just in case she decided to make a quick exit.
Caroline easily made it to the top of the big twirly slide, took a quick survey of the situation,
and down she went!
Here is our brave little girl!
Caroline immediately went back to do it all again. This time, Caden followed. He quickly made it to the top with Caroline and went down the large twirly slide as well.
We had a lot of fun at the park. I especially enjoyed not having to sprint from one exit to another just in case a kid fell off the playscape. I think all four of us are looking forward to another trip to a park.
